PDX to reopen north airport runway

first_imgPORTLAND — Portland International Airport’s north runway was expected to reopen Friday evening, marking the end of a $68 million, five-month construction project to extend the runway to accommodate larger aircraft takeoffs. The extension of the north runway was needed to keep flights on schedule next year while the airport’s longer, south runway will be closed for rehabilitation.The project is the second phase of a three-phase project to improve the runway system, according to the Port of Portland, which operates PDX.last_img
