Share Share **US television production company to visit Dominica**Discover Dominica Authority will host US TV production company Aura 360 Productions from September 24 – 29, 2011. The company produces an NBC TV Show called World of Adventure Sports. The five member crew will participate in adventure activities on the island, with a view to providing exposure to the range of attractions on offer in the Nature Island. The objective of the partnership is to highlight the unique environmental and cultural attributes of Dominica through media, and develop the logistical framework for the creation of an adventure sport event in the near future. Key sites and attractions to be visited are segments of the Waitukubuli National Trail, the Boiling Lake and Titou Gorge. These and other natural assets of Dominica will be distributed to all the World of Adventure Sports media channels, including NBC, VERSUS and Universal Sports. Additionally a 30 second commercial will be produced for the destination. **Dominican Delegation to attend Seatrade Europe convention**Ms. Kathleen Cuffy, Head of Product Development at the Discover Dominica Authority, and Mr. Benoit Bardouille, Chief Executive Officer of the Dominica Air Ports and Sea Ports Authority will attend the Seatrade Europe convention from September 27 – 29, 2011 in Hamburg Germany. The convention brings together key stakeholders in the cruise and travel sectors for focused business meetings, exhibition, travel agent programme and social networking activities. Key topics to be covered during the conference are cruise port development, the European cruise industry, regulations for European cruise lines and factors which influence the deployment of cruise ships. **World Tourism Day is September 27, 2011**World Tourism Day will be celebrated on September 27, 2011. The theme for this year’s celebrations is Tourism- Linking Cultures. The theme seeks to highlight the fact that through travel, cultural experiences can be shared through interaction with individuals and communities thereby fostering more tolerance, respect and mutual understanding for each other. Minister for Tourism and Legal Affairs Hon. Ian Douglas, and Dominica’s winner of the Caribbean Tourism Oganization’s Tourism Youth Congress and Junior Minister of Tourism, Kitwanie Carbon are expected to deliver addresses to the nation on this occasion. **Discover Dominica Authority Contributes to Carib Week celebrations**Dominica celebrates Carib Week from September 17 – 25 in commemoration of the 1930 Carib uprising. This annual event showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Kalinago people. Activities for the week will culminate with a Miss Kalinago and Princess Natari pageant. Discover Dominica Authority wishes the Kalinago community and all Dominicans by extension, a successful and memorable Carib week. **Dominica wins Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Tourism Youth Congress**Dominica’s Kitwanie Carbon emerged victorious at the Tourism Youth Congress organized by the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO). The competition took place in St. Martin on September 17, 2011 and formed part of CTO’s annual State of the Industry conference. Miss Carbon won from a field of 10 other competitors and spoke to the creation of a wellness and longevity festival in Dominica as being the ideal method for promotion of the island’s tourism product. As winner of the competition Miss Carbon will serve in the capacity of Chairperson for the CTO Tourism Youth Conference to be held in St. Kitts in 2012.
